The Irish are filled with blessings! I have lettered several, but this classic blessing is done in tenth century Celtic letters, with hand drawn never-ending knotwork border, popular in the tenth century. The capital letters are authentic with added "zoomorphs", which are interwoven animal or bird images.
This Irish blessing is truly a unique work of art and has graced many an Irish household. I study every piece I letter to be sure that the final result mirrors the culture. I have seen the Irish Blessing lettered in a German medieval style.
Since opening Jacqueline Originals in 1971, I have spent most every day in creative activities. I love to draw, paint, do calligraphy and any combination of these skills! Recently, I have added digital painting to my list, spending hours in my studio now that I'm retired from a lifetime of teaching art. I own a Microsoft Surface Studio tablet which allows me to draw/paint directly on the surface and see the results immediately. I can also use these images as underpaintings for my acrylic creativity. I had a fifty-year retrospective exhibit in 2018 to celebrate my 80th birthday.
