Artist's Description
This is an outstanding Native American wedding gift which you won't find anywhere else. I created this unique blessing to honor earth, air, wind, and fire, the elements blessed by the Great Spirit. The beautiful phrase at the bottom asks for harmony and happiness as the couple grows young together. The colors of the four directions are from the Cherokee nation. The four feathers represent the four prayers.
I was asked to hand letter the Apache Wedding Blessing in 1976, and found that all the European "hands" I knew did not convey the Native American feeling, so I created my own style to reflect the strength and simplicity of the Native American culture. The usual round letters are based on the arrowhead shape.

Since opening Jacqueline Originals in 1971, I have spent most every day in creative activities. I love to draw, paint, do calligraphy and any combination of these skills! Recently, I have added digital painting to my list, spending hours in my studio now that I'm retired from a lifetime of teaching art. I own a Microsoft Surface Studio tablet which allows me to draw/paint directly on the surface and see the results immediately. I can also use these images as underpaintings for my acrylic creativity. I had a fifty-year retrospective exhibit in 2018 to celebrate my 80th birthday.
